Description
: This 1 hour AIA/CES course discusses automatic doors and how they relate to codes and safety. Included will be conversation on AAADM (Association of American Automatic Door Manufacturers), the differing codes governing automatic doors, advances in technology that eliminate danger, and a discussion as to how automatic doors provide convenience and aesthetic advantages to the building owner.
Learning Objectives: The participant will be able to differentiate between the two codes that govern automatic doors (ANSI 156.10 and 156.19); 2) will be able to understand when to specify one type of automatic door product from another; and 3) will better understand the types of traffic requirements in particular design criteria that dictates what type of automatic door to specify.
How Taught: The speaker will present a power point presentation and seek to actively involve participants.
A/V needed: The speaker will require a conference room with adequate seating for all participants, a screen, and a projector for a laptop.
Target Audience: Architects that design hospitality, educational and healthcare facilities, as well as those that are aware of yet desire a better understanding of ADA.
Presenter Qualifications: The facilitator has nearly 15 years in the automatic door industry selling and marketing automatic doors. He also serves as a Board Member for AAADM (American Association of Automatic Door Manufacturers), and is a certified installer and inspector of any make and model of automatic doors. He has presented similar courses to over 100 architectural firms and has been a featured speaker for Wal-Mart, Supervalu and other retail accounts.
Costs: There will not be any cost to the participant. A box lunch will be served.
